American Red Cross Juneau thanks supporters

The American Red Cross of Alaska held its first Flirting with Disaster Fundraiser on Feb. 26 at the Juneau Arts & Culture Center. We would like to say a sincere thank you to those who helped make it happen.

Thank you to our sponsors DJG Development and True North Federal Credit Union!

A very special thank you needs to go out to a Lori Heagy and Inez Patterson of Glacier Valley Elementary School and the Juneau Alaska Music Matters program for organizing the kids in the program so that they could raise money for their Sitka Music Camp. We are deeply thankful to them for arranging the evening’s entertainment and booking Ron Maas Big Band and the Mendenhall Quartet. Thank you Ron Maas Big Band and Mendenhall Quartet, you were beyond wonderful!! We are truly lucky to have benefited from your talent!

Thank you to JACC for providing such great service and to Abby’s Kitchen for fabulous food! Thank you to Alaska Glacier Seafoods for providing the Pacific Cod and Salmon that we enjoyed, it was fantastic! We also need to thank Suite 907, Alaskan Brewing Company and B-Cheesy Photo Booth, all of whom were critical to our event.

Thank you KTOO and ABC Stations for helping to promote the event.

Finally thank you to everyone that made donations to our silent auction: Juneau Jazz Classics, Northstar Trekking, Coastal Helicopters, Gastineau Guiding Company, Mount Roberts Nature Center, Temsco Helicopters, Canton House, Alaska Fudge Company, Best Western, Heritage Coffee Company, Wings Airway & Taku Glacier Lodge, Tracy’s Crab Shack et al., Suite 907, Coppa, Foggy Mountain Shop, Gourmet Alaska and Specialty Imports.

And finally, to the volunteers that made it possible: Ron Bassette, Carolyn and Daniel Garcia, Cathie Allen, Geny Del Rosario and Carol Race.

We are very lucky at the Red Cross to have so much support; we truly could not help our friends and neighbors in emergencies without people like these listed. We are looking forward to being bigger and better next year when we will celebrate 100 years of being in Alaska, with our origination being none other than Juneau!

Tanana Valley District Executive Director/Juneau Liaison,

Opinion: Everyone wants to be Jimmy
