2016 Community Impact Grants given to Southeast organizations

On July 19, 2016 the Community Impact Grant Review committee met and evaluated 22 Community Impact Grant (CIG) Applications submitted to United Way of Southeast Alaska and decided to give to eight organizations in southeast.

The awards are as follows: Friends of Zach Gordon Youth Center received $1,000; Southeast Regional Resource Center – SERRC received $2,500; American Red Cross of Alaska received $1,500; Alaska Aids Assistance Association – 4 A’s received $1,750; Catholic Community Service received $2,500; Front Street Community Health Center received $2,000; Sitkans Against Family Violence received $2,000 and The Salvation Army AK Division – Juneau Corps received $2,000.

CIG’s were awarded for a variety of programs within Southeast Alaska. Funds were provided for programs such as a body and mind afterschool program, family literacy, prescription assistance, shelter services, healthcare outreach and volunteer recruitment as well as several other programs. As in past years, grant funds can be used to pay salaries, purchase materials or pay for outreach; however, grant funds cannot be used to pay for overhead costs such as rent or utilities.
