Jack Beedle was taking photos of a nesting oystercatcher near Excursion Inlet early this month when something else caught his eye.

A coyote — with a noticeable issue with one of its eyeballs, giving it a striking, eerie effect — ran past him and even seemingly posed for a few pictures.

Beedle, who owns a cabin near the inlet located about 40 miles west of Juneau, redirected his camera and got a few shots of the animal. He guessed the eye trauma was caused by a tangle with a porcupine.

Thanks, Jack, for sharing these photos with the Empire!
