University of Alaska Southeast students had a chance to meet scholarship donors face-to-face at a luncheon Friday.

The event, which took place at the UAS Rec Center, included 21 student scholarship recipients. Private donors included individuals and organizations that have contributed more than $300,000 to UAS students during this academic year.

The list of donors represented Friday included Southeast Conference, Juneau area Rotaries, Northwest Coast weavers guild members, PEO chapter members, First Bank, Coeur, Hecla and others.

A short video was shown during the event, which included quotes and information about more than 30 scholarship recipients from around Southeast Alaska. Orin Pierson, the recipient of the UAS Alumni Endowed Scholarship, was quoted in the video saying the scholarship “puts food in my belly and motivation in my spirit.”
