Last chance for Children’s Art Walk

As the weather warms and we prepare for the upcoming season, business owners will be making their way back to town, removing their window coverings and opening their doors for the thousands of tourists that will visit their stores this summer.
As locals, we all have the unique opportunity to stroll through downtown in the off season and experience the Children’s Art Walk. Last September, the AEYC, JEDC and the Downtown Business Association collected artwork from local children and offered to display them as window coverings for businesses that would be closed for the winter. A dozen downtown businesses participated and all funds were dedicated to the Dolly Parton Imagination Library program that delivers free books to kids from birth until they turn five.
If you haven’t yet seen the display, be sure to walk down South Franklin toward the tram to see what young children in Juneau created when asked “What do you love about growing up in Juneau?”
We would like to say thank you to the 50 young artists, their teachers and parents, volunteer installers, and to the following businesses for their participation and donations. Together, their contributions have provided over 500 books to young children in Juneau, and lots of smiles from children, parents and neighbors that have had a chance to enjoy the artwork.
