Freezer stolen from Lemon Creek residence

With a suspect at large, it’s not a cold case.

A Juneau resident had their entire freezer stolen after being scammed on Sunday, according to the Juneau Police Department.

Several women knocked on the door of the victim’s Lemon Creek area residence on Sunday morning, offering residential cleaning services, said JPD Lt. Krag Campbell in an email.

“He let them and then went back to bed as they cleaned,” Campbell said. “When he woke up, the freezer was gone.”

The crime sounds similar to other incidents in the area, Campbell said, and JPD has a suspect.

Contents of the standalone freezer just included food, Campbell said. Theft of large appliances while the victim is home is a rare occurrence, Campbell said.

JPD recommends not letting strangers into an unattended residence as a means of reducing risk of theft, Campbell said.
