The Juneau-Douglas High School: Yadaat.at Kalé hockey team routed Monroe Catholic High School 13-0 in its season opener Friday night at Treadwell Arena.

Sophomore Fin Shibler led the Crimson Bears with three goals against the weaker Rams from Fairbanks and classmate Dylan Murdoch also scored multiple goals in the win.

Zac Stagg, Josh Frisby, Ethan Welch, Andre Peirovi, Sam Bovitz and Cameron Young also tallied goals, while Peirovi, Welch, Evan Fabrello, Reed Loree, Joey Meier, Colter Polley and Max McHenry tallied assists. Senior Cody Mitchell recorded a shutout with 11 saves.

Last season, JDHS graduated 13 seniors, went 6-0 in varsity home games and placed third at the Division II state hockey championships.

After taking on the Monroe Catholic Rams again at 7:45 p.m. Saturday, the Crimson Bears will have four more home series at the Treadwell Arena: Colony (Nov. 22-23), Eagle River (Jan. 10-11), Kenai (Jan. 24-25) and Soldotna (Jan. 31-Feb. 1).
