ANCHORAGE — High wind and heavy rain are blamed for the collapse of a home on stilts in southeast Alaska.

A village public safety officer in Angoon (ang-GOON’) on Friday called Alaska State Troopers to report the home on a beach had collapsed.

A boulder stopped the house from falling into the ocean.

One person living inside sustained injuries and was treated.

The home was declared a total loss.

Angoon is on Admiralty Island 55 miles southwest of Juneau.
