Gross and Galvin concede respective races

Both Al Gross and Alyse Galvin conceded on Friday to Republican incumbents.
Gross and Galvin were both independent candidates who had the backing of the Democratic Party. Gross ran against Sen. Dan Sullivan. Galvin ran against Rep. Don Young.
It was Galvin’s second time running against the 87-year-old Young, who announced on Thursday he had tested positive for COVID-19.
Galvin wished Young well on Twitter Thursday and in her concession, according to the Associated Press.

Gross said in a statement he was proud of the campaign he and his team ran and congratulated Sullivan.
“Even though we have passionate policy disagreements on what is best for Alaska, what is important now is that all Alaskans come together after a free and fair election,” Gross said.
Unofficial results from the Alaska Division of Elections show Young besting Galvin by over 30,000 votes —175-436-144,188.
In the Senate race, unofficial results show Sullivan securing reelection 174,791-131,627. Alaska Independence Party candidate John Wayne Howe received 14,933, according to unofficial figures from the state.
The Associated Press called the Senate race for Sullivan and the House race for Young on Wednesday.
