Falcons fall to Lady Kings for fifth time

Senior Ashley Huffine scored a team-high 16 points, and the Ketchikan Lady Kings cruised to a 53-30 win over Thunder Mountain at the Clarke Cochrane Gymnasium on Friday.

Taz Hauck led the Falcons with eight points, Riley Traxler added six and Nina Fenumiai had five.

Thunder Mountain played with its normal defensive intensity, but so too did Kayhi, who remain unbeaten against their Juneau opponent over five games this season.

The Kings limited the Falcons to one basket in the first quarter, using their characteristically high-intensity defense to force turnovers. They distributed the ball around on the other end, with Dyllan Borer, Nadire Zhuta, Jenae Rhoads and Madison Rose furnishing 12 early points.

TMHS trailed 23-15 at halftime and 41-19 after the third quarter.

The Falcons struggled to capitalize on their free throws. Thunder Mountain shot 6 of 25 from the foul line in the game, including 3 of 11 in the fourth quarter. Kayhi shot 4 of 12 from the charity stripe.
