The Jungle Book will be performed this weekend in Sitka by the Sitka Cirque. This rendition of the stories by Rudyard Kipling will follow a script written by Charles Hart, one of the Cirque’s instructors, and be directed by Fancis Donahoe, owner and founder of Sitka Cirque.

Performers ages range from 3 years old to adults. More than 70 people make up the cast. Backdrops are provided by Sarah Lawrie in the form of papercuts and are fashioned in the method of shadow puppetry. All the animal characters are performed by the Cirque students, but Mowgli is represented by a papercut. Sitkans can enjoy this rendition of the Jungle Book on Saturday, April 21 and 22 with two shows each day: a matinee at 1 p.m. and an evening performance at 6 p.m.
