Writers’ Weir: The Leaf

Published 9:05 pm Thursday, July 20, 2017

Some greener,

some just blossomed,

some have withered

and soon will fall.

Which one are you?

How did you spend

your time in the tree?

Did you sway with the wind,

Go against or let it take you?

Did you break away

or hold tight to keep yourself from falling?

When the rain dropped,

Did you let it flow?

When you fell aground,

Did you root again and grow?

When you look back,

can you say

“I’ve survived all the seasons

graciously surrendering to my Maker

my time, my precious time

loving me and every leaf in the tree

before we all wither and fall.”
