Body of Juneau man found in Sitka harbor

A 30-year-old Juneau man, Patrick Venner, was found dead Sunday on a boat in ANB Harbor in Sitka, Sitka police said.

Police said a drug overdose is suspected.

After Venner hadn’t been seen for days, friends became concerned and went to check on him, police said. They found him dead aboard the 59-foot seiner Shemya, where he worked, and called 911 at 5:05 p.m. Sunday.

Police Lt. Jeff Ankerfelt said foul play is not suspected, and a substance found at the scene tested positive for heroin. The body has been sent to Anchorage for autopsy.
