Wasilla man dies in crash; pickup strikes telephone pole

PALMER — A 42-year-old Wasilla man died when his truck left the roadway and crashed near Palmer.

Alaska State Troopers said James Eldred just before 5 a.m. Thursday was driving north on Stringfield Road.

Troopers said his pickup left the road and struck a telephone pole.

Emergency responders declared him dead at the scene.

Troopers continue to investigate the crash but said Eldred was not using a seat belt.
