Police seek assistance in locating wanted man

The 34-year-old ran away after cutting off ankle monitor, police say.

The Juneau Police Department is asking the community to help locate a 34-year-old Juneau resident who has run away after cutting off his ankle monitor while on conditions of release from jail following a drug charge.

Marcus Eddie Jamestown is wanted on a $10,000 felony warrant for his arrest for violating conditions of his release, along with criminal charges of escape and violating conditions of release.

Jamestown is described as a 5-foot-10 Alaska Native man, weighing approximately 205 pounds with black hair and brown eyes.

Police encouraged people with information about his location to call the department’s business line at (907) 586-0600. Anonymous tips can be submitted through Juneau Crimeline at http://juneaucrimeline.com/.

With snow steadily falling and daylight fading, career fair participants pitched in with a final task for Angoon. Earlier in the season, the boys’ basketball team had split firewood as a fundraiser. Wood stoves heat many of the older homes in Angoon. They are a reprieve from high electricity and fuel prices, but only as long as a household can chop and move their own firewood — making the deliveries a lifeline for elders and their families.
