The Juneau School District will close the Relationships and Leadership Learning for Youth (RALLY) program beginning with the 2025-2026 school year. The summer RALLY program will continue through the district’s advertised end date of Aug. 8.
The district is finalizing an agreement with a local, licensed child care provider to continue to offer an after-school, licensed child care option to JSD families in the fall.
The district has been exploring solutions to ensure continued after-school care for Juneau families due to ongoing staffing challenges facing the RALLY program. In May, JSD collaborated with the Southeast Alaska Association for the Education of Young Children to issue a request for information to their network of child care providers, gathering information and interest related to after-school child care options. Over the past month, Auke Lake Preschool, an established local, licensed provider, has expressed interest.
The district plans to lease space in Juneau’s schools to continue to offer an after-school, licensed child care option, according to an email from Kristin Bartlett, JSD chief of staff.
More information will be sent to all current RALLY families and all JSD elementary families through JSD’s Blackboard communication system as details become available. Enrollment and registration information will continue to be linked on the district website and shared with JSD families during the transition.
