Dog found with tape wrapped around mouth in Anchorage

ANCHORAGE — Anchorage animal control officials are investigating after a dog was found with its mouth taped shut.

KTVA-TV reported that the dog was found Tuesday running loose in Anchorage with tape around its neck and running down its back.

Anchorage Animal Care and Control spokeswoman Laura Atwood said the dog has been reunited with its owner, who was looking for the animal at the time it was found.

Atwood said if dogs are a nuisance in someone’s neighborhood they should call animal control and not take action on their own.

The person responsible for taping the dog’s mouth could face animal cruelty charges. Anyone with information is asked to call animal control.
