Bike race planned for Saturday morning on Treadwell trails

The Juneau Freewheeler Bicycle Club will host the Treadwell Mine Cyclocross Bike Race Saturday morning on Sandy Beach and the Treadwell trails. The race will start at 9:30 a.m. on the upper part of Sandy Beach and continue into a series of loops on the Treadwell Mine Historic Trail. Before the race, volunteers will travel the course to warn hikers and dog-walkers about the event. During the race, volunteers will be stationed at key intersections to monitor riders and ensure safety. The trail will remain open to the public during the race, but anyone using the trail between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. Saturday should be cautious. For more information about the race, contact John McConnochie at 723-1876 or email jpm@gci.net.
