Opinion: Amazed at generosity

Our Legislature ripped through billions and billions of dollars during the oil boom.

I read the article in Sunday’s Empire on giving your Permanent Fund Dividend back to the State of Alaska, and was amazed at the generosity of some people living here in Juneau.

Our Legislature ripped through billions and billions of dollars during the oil boom, and if the PFD had not been created they would have ripped through all that money too, and we would all be flat broke now.

If these people would like to give half or all their PFD back to the state, the ability to do so is already in place. Just go online and Pick.Click.Give.org, and give all your money back to the state, and you can feel good about yourself. When the smoke clears, we will know just how many people want to give their money back, and we will not be hurting the young family with two or three children who need that money.

Taking money away from Alaskans who really need it is a selfish thing to do.
