Man stabbed with butcher knife

Verbal argument with girlfriend turns gruesome for 51-year-old man

A woman stabbed her 51-year-old boyfriend in the chest with a butcher knife early Friday morning, police say, sending the man to the hospital with a serious injury that has since been stabilized.

About 12:54 a.m. Friday morning, Juneau Police Department received a 911 call from the 51-year-old man, who hasn’t been identified, that his girlfriend had just stabbed him in the chest, according to a JPD release. JPD and Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to the man’s home in the 2800 block of Postal Way.

The man was walking away from the home when officers contacted him. The man bled from the chest wound and was in a great deal of pain, police say.

CCFR treated the man while JPD entered the man’s home. Inside, they contacted the girlfriend, identified as Juneau woman Valerie Wilson, 48.

Officers learned Wilson and the man had a brief verbal argument and then separated in the home. Shortly afterward, Wilson approached the victim and stabbed him in the chest with a large knife, they said. Officers found the bloody weapon in the kitchen sink.

The 51-year-old victim was taken to the hospital for treatment. As of noon Friday, police said the man’s injuries had been stabilized.

Police arrested Wilson for first degree assault, a class A felony. She was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held without bail.
