A grand jury in Juneau indicted a man arrested last week for more than 70 charges, including sexual abuse of a minor and assault, Juneau police announced.

Steven Kale Littlefield, 30, was indicted for 27 counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a minor, 40 counts of second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, two counts of second-degree assault and six counts of third-degree assault. All of these are felony charges, according to Juneau Police Department.

Juneau Police Department began investigating Littlefield following a report on Feb. 9 that a man had been sexually abusing two children for several years. Littlefield was arrested the next day, and is currently being held at Lemon Creek Correctional Center.

Instances in which a suspect is charged with more than 10 separate charges are very uncommon; for a suspect to be indicted for more than 70 felony offenses is exceptionally rare.

Littlefield was indicted last week for two first-degree sexual abuse of a minor charges.
