Boosters are now available. Here’s who’s eligible and how to get one

COVID-19 booster vaccinations are available in Juneau, the City and Borough of Juneau announced.

The booster shots are available to certain people who received the Pfizer vaccine more than six months ago. People who qualify for booster shots are those 65 and older; residents and staff in long-term care settings; people 18 and older with underlying medical conditions such as asthma, diabetes and obesity; and people 18 and older who work in high-risk settings, such as health care workers, teachers and grocery store workers.

People who fall into those groups can now register online at juneau.org/vaccine to receive a booster shot Friday or Saturday at Centennial Hall in clinics similar to the ones held in March. The same link can be used to find other vaccination appointments by clicking the “all appointments” option.

Earlier this month the U.S. Food and Drug Administration OK’d use of the Pfizer vaccine for a single booster dose in people in the groups outlined in the CBJ news release. announcing booster shots

City, state and federal health officials continue to advise that vaccination is the best way to limit spread of COVID-19 and improve outcomes for people who contract the virus.
