Fire outside downtown library is under investigation

Firefighters put out a small fire early Thursday morning just outside the Downtown Public Library.

Capital City Fire/Rescue responded to the fire at about 1:15 a.m. Thursday, according to a CCFR social media post, and found a port-a-potty destroyed by the fire. Plastic from the port-a-potty melted to the wooden decking it was placed on.

The fire did an estimated $3,000 in damage, according to CCFR. The fire is being investigated as intentionally set, according to CCFR, and anyone with information is encourage to contact Fire Marshal Dan Jager at 586-5322.
