Juneau United’s season drew to a close on Saturday night with a 65-12 loss to Bartlett High School in Anchorage.
The unified football team finishes the year 0-8 and joins Dimond High School as the two Division I football programs to miss out on the postseason. Both teams finished in last place in their respective conferences: Juneau in the Chugach and Dimond in the Cook Inlet (the top-four teams in each conference advance to the postseason).
Bartlett (7-1), which secured the Chugach’s top-seed last weekend with a 40-0 rout of Wasilla, hosts Service (4-4) next Saturday in the quarterfinals of the 2018 First National Bowl Football State Championships. The other quarterfinal matchups include: Chugiak (1-7) at East Anchorage (7-1); Wasilla (3-5) at West Anchorage (4-4); South Anchorage (4-4) at Colony (7-1).
The state championship game is Friday, Oct. 19 at the Anchorage Football stadium.
