Warrant issued for man suspected of Anchorage kidnapping

ANCHORAGE — A warrant has been issued for a 25-year-old man suspected of kidnapping.

Anchorage police are looking for Brendon Wesley Adam Valdez.

Police said a man at 9 p.m. Sunday picked up a hitchhiker, Valdez, near 36th Avenue in west Anchorage.

He told police he drove Valdez to several locations and picked up a third man.

Police said Valdez pulled a gun on the driver, ordered him into the passenger seat, drove around town for several hours and released the man unharmed early Monday.

Police obtained a warrant charging Valdez with kidnapping, robbery, assault, vehicle theft and theft.

Police said the victim’s car, a white Ford coupe with license plate GRK103, remains missing.

Valdez is also being sought on two unrelated felony warrants for probation violations.
