Juneau Drag invites residents to celebrates the ‘holi-gays’ in style

The holidays can be a drag, so Juneau’s LGBTQ+ community and allies are invited to slay it with Juneau Drag.
Juneau Drag is back and bringing the heat this holiday season, starting first this past Saturday evening at the Alaskan Hotel and Bar, when the group presented a two-show Holi-gay Spectacular Ho Ho HOMO emceed by Gigi Monroe that featured drag, dancing, pole dancing and live singing in front of full crowds.
“I thought the shows went really well and there was great energy from the crowd and performers,” Monroe said.
The Holi-gay Spectacular has been an annual Juneau tradition for more than five years, and Monroe said it’s an important show because oftentimes the holidays can be tough for people, especially those in the LBGTQ+ community, and she hopes the shows offer a space for people to celebrate the holidays and give people a reason to laugh.
And, if the first event wasn’t enough, Juneau residents also have a chance to welcome in the New Year at Juneau Drag’s upcoming drag show and cocktail party New Queer’s Eve.
It’s the first time the show has been back since the 2020 New Year, and Monroe said it’s a great way to celebrate the New Year with Juneau’s LBGTQ+ community and friends.
“I really appreciate the continued support of the shows — we’re going to keep doing what we do,” Monroe said.
