Thane Road will be closed on Thursday for avalanche hazard reduction, the state’s transportation department announced.

The closure was scheduled for 3-6 p.m. on April 15, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said in a news release. An extended closure may be necessary if avalanche debris reaches the roadway.

The road has been closed several times this year to allow for similar mitigation operations. A previous closure scheduled for April 3 was canceled.
