2 indicted in connection to Skater’s Cabin vehicle arson

Two women were indicted on Thursday in Juneau superior court on charges related to a vehicle fire near Skater’s Cabin last August.

Brenda Jay Gallant, 40 and Patricia L. Jesus, 22, were each indicted on one count of third-degree arson, a felony, for allegedly setting a vehicle on fire in a parking lot on Aug. 5, 2020.

The vehicle was reported ablaze in the early hours of Aug, 5, a Wednesday morning, said Capital City Fire/Rescue in a social media post., at the time. No one was hurt in the early-morning fire, but it was immediately regarded as suspicious.

The vehicle was completely destroyed, said fire marshal Dan Jager in a phone interview at the time of the incident.

Judge Daniel Schally will preside over the case. Further court proceedings for Gallant and Jesus have not yet been set.
