Thane Road will be closed for two hours Saturday morning to allow for avalanche hazard reduction, the state’s transportation department announced.

The closure is scheduled for 9-11 a.m. on March 6, Alaska Department of Transportation and Public Facilities said in a news release. The hazard reduction will allow Alaska Electric Light & Power to repair a damaged transmission line.

An extended road closure may be necessary if avalanche debris reaches the roadway.

The road was similarly closed on Thursday for avalanche reduction.
