State announces 143 new COVID-19 cases

It was a decrease from the single-day record set Monday, but the state still reported a triple-digit increase in COVID-19 cases on Tuesday.

The state announced 143 new cases spread across 20 communities. Of those new cases, 137 are residents and six are nonresidents. More than half of the cases were reported in Anchorage —59 cases —and Fairbanks —21 cases —but 14 cases were also reported in the Bethel Census Area.

Locally, City and Borough of Juneau Emergency Operations Center reported two new COVID-19 cases. Both are residents, according to the city.

Public Health attributed one of the cases to close contact with a known COVID-19 case and one to out-of-state travel.
