Official results are in for the state primary elections, Alaska Division of Elections announced on Monday evening.

About 70,000 ballots were cast in the Republican Primary and about 63,500 were cast in the Democratic Primary, according to the official results.

The results show losses for several prominent Republican state lawmakers, including Senate President Cathy Giessel, R-Anchorage. In at least one instance, a legislator who lost a tight race has said they will seek a recount.
