Two injured in crash near Nugget Mall

Two people were taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital with non-life threatening injuries Wednesday afternoon following a car crash, said a Juneau Police Department spokesperson.

The crash occurred before noon at the intersection of Egan Drive and Glacier Highway, said Lt. Krag Campbell of JPD. He said that it was unlikely that ice was a factor in the collision and that no one was severely injured.

There was also a dog in one of the cars involved in the accident. Campbell confirmed the dog was uninjured.

“The extent of their injuries is unknown, but probably not life-threatening,” Campbell said in a phone interview. “Both vehicles have pretty extensive damage, and based on the extent of the damage, we think that both vehicles were probably totaled.”

One lane of Egan outbound was shut down while JPD and Capital City Fire/Rescue cleared the vehicles and debris.
