A local 17-year-old spent his summer doing some good.

Evan Fabrello, a senior at Juneau-Douglas High School, built a staircase to improve access to Favorite Channel Beach.

It was part of an Eagle Scout project that took 10 weeks to complete. He raised $600 to buy the materials, and his family helped cover the rest of the $2,000 cost.
