Police called twice in one day for ‘agitated’ man with knife

An “agitated” man with a knife walked into Northrim Bank on Monday and frightened those inside, Juneau Police Department Lt. Krag Campbell said.

The 37-year-old man had a large knife but didn’t point it at anyone or threaten anyone, Campbell wrote in an email. When police arrived at the bank at about 2:30 p.m., officers were able to talk him down a bit and take him to the hospital for a medical evaluation, Campbell stated.

No crime was committed, Campbell said, but it was the second time Monday that the man had caused a scene. Earlier in the day, the man was yelling and waving the knife around at a mobile home park in the Mendenhall Valley, Campbell wrote. Officers had responded to the park but determined that the man hadn’t been committing a crime, so they left him alone.

Nobody was harmed in the incident, Campbell stated.
