Alaska’s U.S. senators have a new liaison to Juneau.

Dana Herndon, formerly of the Juneau Economic Development Council, has been hired as the Juneau delegation representative, according to an announcement Monday from Sens. Lisa Murkowski and Dan Sullivan. Herndon replaces Connie McKenzie, who served in that role for almost 15 years.

The Juneau delegation representative communicates with and helps constituents in Juneau and Southeast as a whole. Herndon has worked as a public relations specialist and media relations specialist, and owned a full-service Juneau marketing agency called Higher Image Management.

In a joint statement, Murkowski and Sullivan thanked McKenzie for her service and welcomed Herndon to the new role.

“Her experience in the communications field and tenure with the Juneau Economic Development Council makes her a great addition to serve the Alaska Delegation and our state as a whole,” Murkowski and Sullivan said in the statement.
