As construction continues in downtown Juneau, the intersection of North Franklin and Second streets will be partially closed Friday.

According to an email from City and Borough of Juneau Project Engineer Lori Sowa, the intersection will be closed Friday as a storm pipe is being installed across the roadway. Cars will still be able to access the intersection from the Baranof Hotel side of Second, but Second will be closed at Seward Street and a detour will be put in place.

The detour will direct cars up to Fourth Street, over to Gold Street and down Second Street to Franklin, where drivers will be able to make a right-hand turn to access the 200 and 300 blocks of North Franklin Street. Pedestrian traffic is still open.

This phase of the Downtown Street Improvements Project is scheduled to finish at the end of October.
