Police calls for Sunday, Aug. 9, 2018

Assault

• At 10:27 p.m. Wednesday, the Juneau Police Department arrested Joshua Smith, 47, in the 200 block of Front Street for assaulting a 38-year-old man in front of the Viking Lounge. Alcohol was a factor. Smith was taken to Lemon Creek Correctional Center and held on $500 bail.

Burglary

• At 9:16 a.m. Thursday, JPD responded to the 300 block of Franklin Street to investigate the report of a burglary. Investigation continues.

Conditions violation

• At 7:04 p.m. Wednesday, JPD arrested James Bottelson, 27, in the 3000 block of Vintage Boulevard for a pretrial violation.

Domestic violence

• At 1:49 p.m. Wednesday, JPD responded to the report of domestic violence in the Juneau area. Alcohol was a factor. Investigation continues.

• At 9:20 p.m. Wednesday, JPD arrested a 39-year-old man in the Juneau area for two counts of third-degree assault, one count of fourth-degree assault and one count of interfering with a report of domestic violence. Alcohol was a factor. He was taken to LCCC. Read more on Friday’s A1.

Drunken driving

• At 2:30 a.m. Thursday, JPD arrested Dalton Kolvig, 24, in the 2200 block of Trout Street for driving under the influence. The car he was driving was impounded.

Motor vehicle crash

• At 6:27 a.m. Thursday, JPD responded to the 1900 block of Douglas Highway to investigate the report of a hit and run that caused property damage to a historic cemetery. No injuries were reported, and charges were forwarded to the District Attorney’s Office, recommending that the 35-year-old woman who was driving be charged with one count of not immediately giving notice of an accident, a class A misdemeanor. Robbery

• At 1:33 p.m. Wednesday, JPD arrested Pavel Bogatko, 28, in the 2200 block of Trout Street for second-degree robbery and second-degree theft. He was taken to LCCC and held without bail. Read more on Friday’s A1.

Sex crime

• At 10:48 a.m. Thursday, JPD conducted a confidential investigation into a possible sex crime.

Theft

• At 11:12 a.m. Thursday, JPD responded to the 1200 block of Salmon Creek Lane to investigate the report of a 29-year-old man who reported the theft of a Samsung tablet. Investigation continues.

Wildlife violation

• On Thursday, Juneau-based Alaska Wildlife Troopers served Juneau man Mark Mitchell, 39, with a misdemeanor summons charging him with attempting to trap wolves during a closed season. This dates back to July 12, when AWT received a report from the Alaska Department of Fish & Game that a bear had been found dead and caught in a snare near Mount Ben Stewart on Douglas Island. Troopers found that Mitchell had set the snares with the intent of catching wolves. This charge is the second one this summer for Mitchell. Read more on page A1.
