Juneau artist MK MacNaughton was selected as the winner of the first Juneau Reusable Tote Bag Contest for her oil painting “Fall Whispers Good-bye.” The contest was done by a partnership between the Juneau Arts & Humanities Council and Foodland IGA and Superbear IGA.

MacNaughton’s design will be featured on 10,000 totes bags to be sold at Foodland IGA and Superbear IGA. Proceeds of the bag sales go to the artist, the JAHC and Project 3 Square, a group of employees from the grocery stores who provide breakfast and lunch during winter, spring and summer breaks to Juneau School District students on the free or reduced lunch and breakfast program. Bags are $4.99 and $3.99 for two or more purchased at the same time.

The JAHC and grocery stores plan to continue the contest every spring.
