Arson suspected in Lemon Creek fire

Capital City Fire/Rescue is investigating a fire that engulfed an entire outdoor carport Sunday as a possible arson case.
CCFR Fire Marshal Dan Jager said in a press release Monday that the early morning blaze in the 5700 block of Glacier Highway created columns of smoke visible from two miles away. The carport area contained a dumpster, cab-over-camper and a flatbed tow trailer, all destroyed in the fire. The estimated cost of the damage is $45,000.
CCFR Chief Rich Etheridge said one firefighter on the scene sustained a minor injury while pulling materials, but the firefighter did not require medical attention and was still on duty.
Jager was not immediately available Monday to comment on what inspectors found that gave them cause to believe the fire was set intentionally, and Etheridge only said all natural and accidental causes for the fire have been eliminated.
