Capital City Fire/Rescue firefighters Craig Brown, left, and Travis Wolfe use a tarp to cover a broken skylight in the 3200 block of Foster Avenue in West Juneau on Monday. CCFR had to break the skylight while fighting a fire that started in a bedroom closet. CCFR Fire Chief Richard Etheridge said, "The smoke was clear down to the floor and it was super hot in there, so for them to find the fire they had to vent the smoke out." The fire was contained to the one room, but the upper floor suffered heavy smoke damage, according to Etheridge. The homeowner was taken to Bartlett Regional Hospital for a minor injury to the top of his head while fighting the fire.
