Rasmuson Foundation awards Perseverance Theater in Seven Tier 1 Awards

Perseverence Theatre won a $25,000 grant from the Rasmuson Foundation, the Foundation announced in a news release Tuesday. The grant money — one of seven Tier I grants Rasmuson awarded in its fourth quarter of 2015 — will cover the program infrastructure and performance costs associated with the play, “Our Voices Will Be Heard.”

Rasmuson, which gives grants out year round, gave a total of $138,665 for capital projects, technology upgrades capacity building, program expansion and creative works for the fourth quarter in Alaska.

The Sheldon Museum and Cultural Center in Haines received $25,000 to install shelving for collections storage.

Craig Waverunners Swim Club received $12,094 to purchase sports and technology equipment.

Alaska Native Tribal Health Consortium in Anchorage received $25,000 to purchase furniture and equipment for the Alaska Native Medical Center Family Birthing Services.

Citizens for the Education Advancement of Alaska’s Children in Anchorage received $5,000 to make technology upgrades to its Ed Connector, an interactive portal serving school districts statewide.

Nordic Journeys received $25,000 to purchase a vehicle to transport rural athletes, coaches and ski equipment to ski events in the Anchorage area. Nordic Journeys creates sustainable Nordic ski programs in communities statewide.

Fairbanks Youth Advocates received $21,571 to purchase furniture for its counseling offices and reception area.
