Navy plans to change warning light scheme

The U.S. Navy is proposing changes to the warning light scheme in the West Arm of Behm Canal near Ketchikan.
The canal is open to boat traffic, except when the Navy is conducting sonar tests at its facility nearby.
The Navy has proposed using a flashing amber light to indicate the area is closed. Currently, navigation books list a flashing red light.
The change becomes effective Jan. 6. For more information, contact David Olson of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers at 907-747-0658.
