ANCHORAGE — Alaska State Troopers have arrested a man they say beat his dog with metal pipe and a two-by-four, injuring it so severely that it had to be euthanized.

KTVA-TV reported that troopers arrested the 44-year-old Soldotna man for animal cruelty after finding a badly injured Labrador-pitbull mix in his house.

Troopers say the dog vomited a large amount of blood and a veterinarian said it needed to be euthanized.

They accuse the man of beating the dog until it was unconscious with a large metal pipe because it growled at him. According to troopers, the dog later woke up and the man beat again it with a two-by-four with a screw sticking out of it until the lumber broke.
