The Center, which has been open for about a year, has 11 apartments for military veterans along with nonprofit organizations. Haines Tlingit master carver Wayne Price produced the two 12-foot totems in honor of Tlingit veterans Walter Soboleff (Raven/Dog Salmon) and Howard McCrae (Eagle/Wolf). The screen/sign is called Warriors Spirit. Price said, “When art is dedicated in this manner, presented with witnesses and dance, that is what makes it real, what gives it life.
