ANCHORAGE — Alaska State Troopers say a passenger of a small plane was injured when the aircraft crashed north of Talkeetna after the pilot was practicing aerial maneuvers.

Troopers say the passenger of the Piper PA-22-150 sustained non-life-threatening injuries in the Sunday afternoon crash about 50 miles north of Talkeetna. The passenger was taken to an area hospital.

Troopers say the pilot, 33-year-old Trevor Jones of Anchorage, did not report any injuries.

According to troopers, Jones was practicing “touch and go” maneuvers. Troopers say the pilot was forced to land on a hillside slope after the aircraft experienced engine problems.

The plane was damaged in the incident.

Troopers say the National Transportation Safety Board and Federal Aviation Administration were notified.
