Police seeking thief of equipment from university boat

Juneau Police Department personnel are searching for two stolen items taken from a University of Alaska Southeast boat earlier this spring.

According to a JPD release, a pot puller and a marine VHF radio were stolen from a UAS boat in the area of Bentwood Place off Industrial Boulevard. The thefts happened sometime between March 15 and April 12, police say, and it is unknown whether it was a single person or multiple people who took the items.

The pot puller and VHF are valued at an estimated $2,500, according to the release.

Anybody with information about the stolen items is asked to call JPD at 586-0600 or Juneau Crime Line at 523-7700. Crime Line is a nonprofit organization that assists police agencies in their investigations. Tipsters are guaranteed anonymity and can be eligible for a reward of up to $2,000. People can also visit www.juneaucrimeline.com to submit at tip.
