Drawing permit applications open

The Alaska Department of Fish and Game has opened the application process for 2016 big game drawing hunts.

Hunters have until 5 p.m. Dec. 15 to apply at http://hunt.alaska.gov or until 5 p.m. Nov. 25 to apply in person at an ADF&G office.

Many popular big game hunts have greater demand than the population of animals can support, so ADF&G operates a lottery system to distribute permits for these hunts. Interested hunters must register for the drawing to be eligible.

Results are announced the third Friday in February.
