The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly has extended the time frame for its search for a new city manager.
After reviewing all 33 applications received, “the Assembly has opted to extend the recruitment period with the goal of making a selection by the end of February,” a CBJ news release states. The Assembly will review the next round of applicants early next year.
“The Assembly wants a strong, collaborative leader who understands the very real challenges facing our community,” Mayor Greg Fisk said in a prepared statement. “We want to make sure that we have a robust pool of candidates for the final phase of the selection process.”
The city will expand its “advertising and outreach efforts,” which were originally limited to newspaper ads in Juneau, Anchorage and Fairbanks, and postings on “relevant job boards.”
City Manager Kim Kiefer, who was originally slated to retire by the end of the year, will stay on until April 30, 2016.
