Assembly accepting D2 candidate applications

The City and Borough of Juneau Assembly is now accepting candidate applications to fill the District 2 seat left vacant when Karen Crane resigned on Jan. 20 to run for mayor.

Applicants are required to have lived in Juneau for at least a year before being appointed, and they must live in one of the following municipal precincts: Auke Bay, Lynn Canal or any of the four Mendenhall Valley precincts. Only residents able to vote in Juneau are eligible for this office.

To apply, candidates must submit a declaration of candidacy form, a letter of interest and a résumé to the City Clerk’s office. The deadline to apply is at 4:30 p.m. Feb. 8. Filing forms can be found on the Assembly’s website at Juneau.org/assembly.

The eight sitting Assembly members will appoint a candidate to the empty seat by a majority vote.
