Juneau Police Department will host a drop-off location for a drug take-back event, police announced.

The event, being held for the federal Drug Enforcement Administration, is scheduled for 10 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturday April, 24, at the police station, JPD said in a news release. During that time, people can drop off prescription medications, including tablets, capsules, patches and other types of solid drugs.

Liquids, syringes, other sharps and illegal drugs won’t be accepted, according to JPD. Vaping devices and cartridges will be accepted if lithium batteries have been removed.

The last national DEA Take-Back Day, held in October, set a record high for drugs collected and yielded nearly 500 tons of prescription drugs, according to police.
